Resilmount MBF Sound Isolation Clips

Resilmount MBF clips are furring channel clips for use in wall applications where wall studs may be uneven. MBF clips are a budget conscious/low cost choice for projects where sound isolation is not critical. MBF clips' simple notched design provides extra tolerance for the placement of furring channels to create a straight and even channel even when the wall studs are not all directly in line.

MBF clips in conjunction with furring channel can provide separation between the wall and building frame, which can help in acoustically isolating a room. Additionally MBF clips can act to create some space between the drywall and studs which can be used to run plumbing or electrical conduit.

MBF clips are not manufactured for use in ceilings.

Resilmount MBF Installation Guide

Wall Installation Guide
Resilmount MBFR Wall Installation Diagram

Use 25 gauge furring channel on walls.
Furring channel is installed across studs horizontally.
Use a 4 ft. level to ensure furring channel is installed level.
Clips are spaced no further than 48 inches apart horizontally
Hat channel must not be spaced more than 24 inches vertically
Bottom clips must be less than 3 inches from the floor
Top clips must be less than 6 inches from the ceiling
Make sure to leave a 1/4 in. gap between wall and ceiling and wall and floor to fill with acoustical caulk.

Measure for placement of Resilmount MBF isolation clips using layout guidelines listed in the Installation Notes above.
Mark locations and place clips against the stud. Install screw through the hole in the center of the clip.

STEP 2 - INSTALL THE FURRING CHANNELResilmount MBF Installation Picture
Snap furring channel into clips.
Some walls will require you to overlap hat channel. It is best to overlap 6 inches of hat channel between two clips. Secure the hat channel with two 7/16 framing screws or 18 gauge tie-wire.

Place shims on the floor to allow spacing between the drywall and the flooring. This ensures decoupling from the floor to make it impossible for vibrations to travel from the wall to the floor and vice-verse.
Screw drywall in place through hat channel. Be sure drywall is fully installed before removing shims from underneath.

Use acoustical sealant to fill the 1/4" gaps around the perimeter, and all gaps around electrical boxes, windows, and doors.
